Similarities
We are all human
But that is where our similarities end
We breathe the same air
We see the same sun
And for us all
Time never stops
But who are we really?
Blood, bone, skin hair
Black, white, in between
Sleeping, walking
Eating, talking
Your language, my language
Space, distance and silence
I feel hatred and despair
You feel love and joy
I see storms and pain
You see sunshine and hope
A child laughs, a stranger cries
One life begins, another ends
We all walk blindly
Following our invisible path
What we have
Is never forever
Those we love
Gone in an instant
Society conforms
To an invisible God
All bowing down
Afraid to be the one
To take a stand
Freedom comes at the ultimate price
The loss of individuality
He says, she says
Contradiction, lies and blame
Innocence and beauty
Laughter, happiness and delight
Father, son
Mother, daughter
Brother, sister
Friend, foe
Baby, toddler, child
Teenager, adolescent, beyond
Does this make sense - written for a Uni Assignment?
Make sense as far as: can I follow it? Yes. It is a long, tedious, and unoriginal train of thought.
Make sense as far as: does it fulfill your intention? No. In just a few lines, you state your intention better than the poem does. This is an instance of a poem having the cars in order, but the track is missing. My old poetry mentor used to say in this case, "Let the rails that the poem rides on show." Which means, just out and out say your intention so that you can use these images to take you from the beginning to the end.

Does it make sense? All who respond may have a different opinion on the matter. Define "sense"
I believe "common sense" is not common at all in this world.
I'll admit I know 1 thing for sure. We are all gonna die.
You tell me something. What is this life for if not for dieing?
Lastly, the sun still shines during a storm.
Well none of that answered your question. lol.
What is freedom just a word. I believe you are as free as you want to be. You can stand up every time even if you are the only 1 standing. And will it make a difference in this world. "Maybe". But the fact is this place will still be here long after you and I are gone. I believe it will be a long time before the last human perishes from this place. Thinking of death is just intoxicating. My mind goes wild with wonder.
