In the same way, drunk drivers cause accidents but so do sober drivers, and many drunk drivers cause no accidents at all. The law should focus on violations of person and property, not scientific oddities like blood content.

There's a final point against Clinton's drunk-driving bill. It is a violation of states rights. Not only is there is no warrant in the Constitution for the federal government to legislate blood-alcohol content 閳?the 10th amendment should prevent it from doing so.

You make an excellent point, however the problem comes from the scientific research that somehow was able to 'prove' that .08 BAC impairs a persons ability to operate a vehicle. The problem with that is, who's to say that's true, and the effect from person to person varies greatly. Yes repeat offenders who are seriously drunk are a menace, but yes, lumped in with them are a lot of innocent people who went to a party and had one too many.

I am very sorry that people die because of drunk drivers. But I do not believe that the entire populace that drinks should be criminalized because of it. That is basically what is happening now.
