Were the ancient Egyptians really White or Black? pls read my facts and send me your facts!?

1.Evidence from Physical Anthropology

The skeletons and skulls of the Ancient Egyptians clearly reflect they were ******* people with features very similar to those of modern Black Nubians and other people of the Upper Nile and of East Africa.

2.Melanin Dosage Test

Egyptologist Cheikh Anta Diop invented a method for determining the level of melanin in the skin of human beings. When conducted on Egyptian mummies in the Museum of Man in Paris, this test indicated these remains were of Black people.

3.Osteological Evidence

"Lepsius canon," which distinguishes the bodily proportions of various racial groups categories the "ideal Egyptian" as ******* or Negrito physical type."

4.Evidence From Blood Types

Diop notes that even after hundreds of years of inter-mixture with foreign invaders, the blood type of modern Egyptians is the "same group B as the populations of western Africa on the Atlantic seaboard and not the A2 Group characteristic of the white race prior to any crossbreeding."

5.The Egyptians as They Saw Themselves

"The Egyptians had only one term to designate themselves =kmt= the Negroes (literally). This is the strongest term existing in the Pharaonic tongue to indicate blackness; it is accordingly written with a hieroglyph representing a length of wood charred at the end and not crocodile scales," singular. 鈥楰mt鈥?from the adjective =kmt= black; it therefore means strictly Negroes or at the very least black men. The term is a collective noun which thus described the whole people of Pharaonic Egypt as a black people."

6.Divine Epithets

Diop demonstrates that "black or *****" is the divine epithet invariably used for the chief beneficent Gods of Egypt, while the evil spirits were depicted as red.

7.Evidence From the Bible

The Bible states that "鈥t]he sons of Ham [were] Cush and Mizraim [i.e. Egypt], and Phut, and Canaan. And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah and Sabtechah." According to Biblical tradition, Ham, of course, was the father of the Black race. "Generally speaking all semitic tradition (Jewish and Arab) class ancient Egypt with the countries of the black."

8.Cultural unity of Egypt With The Rest of Africa

Through a study of circumcision and totemism. Diop gives detailed data showing cultural unity between Egypt and the rest of Africa.

9.Linguistic Unity With Southern and Western Africa

In a detailed study of languages, Diop clearly demonstrates that Ancient Egyptian, modern Coptic of Egypt and Walaf of West Africa are related, with the latter two having their origin in the former.

10.Testimony of Classical Greek and Roman Authors

Virtually all of the early Latin eyewitnesses described the Ancient Egyptians as Black skinned with wooly hair.

Egyptians are as black as there brothers of southern Sudan and central

What color were the ancient Egyptians?" Being on the continent, Egypt has always been an African civilization though it straddles two regions, Africa and the Middle East. It's fairly clear that the cultural roots of ancient Egypt lie in Africa and not in Asia. Egypt was a subtropical desert environment and its people had migrated from various ethnic groups over its history (and prehistory), thus it was something of a "melting pot," a mixture of many types of people with many skin tones, some certainly from the Sub-Saharan regions and others from more Mediterranean climes. It is impossible to categorize these people into the tidy "black" and "white" terms of today's racial distinctions. The Egyptians are better classified using evidence of their language and their material cultures, historical records, and their physical remains because so-called "racial" identification has been elusive, much for the reasons cited above. Skulls have been measured and compared and DNA tests attempted in various forms, but conclusions are few. Skulls are more similar to those found in the Northern Sudan and less similar to those found in West Africa, Palestine, and Turkey. It seems that there has been some genetic continuity from Predynastic time through the Middle Kingdom, after which there was a considerable infiltration into the Nile Valley from outside populations. That the Egyptians by and large were dark is certain, and many must have been what we today call "black."

I wasn't aware that anyone thought they were caucasian. Isn't obvious that they would be of African orgin.

The Egyptian People were at various times ruled by Kings not of Egyptian birth, for example Cleopatra, who was essentially,European. The population of Egypt was a people of olive skin, much like the people of the middle east.

Well from my teachings they were closet to being of black which makes the African culture extremely large and vast as most people could have ever imagined. Looking at most of the pictures of the early Pharaohs and Queens most of all of them looked like they had ***** features.

For a good example look a Pharaoh Amenhotep IV his features resembled that of a African and so did Nefertiti she too resembled that of a African so it is safe to say that it may very well be possible that the Egyptians were of African decent.

i only read 7 of the 10, but the fact of the matter is that if you do believe in any sort of evolution, these people were obviously dark-skinned. it only makes sense that they had plenty of pigmentation to their skin. the sun was hot and high a lot of their lifetimes and the survivors of this heat and sun height could only be that of a dark skinned nature.

there is also the fact that no one i have ever met has ever deemed these early egyptian/samarians as white. they were never white or anywhere near that pigmentation. there is no way that that could have happened, imagine the whitest person you know living in those extreme circumstances and continuing to be white. they would die or darken.

Africa is the cradle of life.

Are humans or all colors and races originated from early African man, migrating and developing distinctive traits as they adapted to whatever environment they had migrated to.

Never really thought of it.

When I think of ancient Egyptians I tend to see them in the colors of their art. The colored sculptures that stand out are the head of Tutankhamen as a child and Nefertiti - they are a sort of middle east mix. I never thought they were white. The bust of Queen Tye (who came from the South) is darker than the other busts. There are also some murals that show "black" Egyptians alongside the more usual reddish skin tones. The enemies of "Egypt" sculpture in Tut's tomb has a head of a white Hyskos on one end and a black Nubian on the other. So the Egyptian artists were aware of color differences.

Whatever color they were it, it looks like they had a fully integrated society.

Whaat are you arguing about? we all know that they were black. Have not you seen any mummies?

What bearing does skin color have on their impact on this world? I've studied this culture for ten years and have never came across anything that "pinpointed" their skin color. Making assumptions based on their art is another ignorant example of how much we still DON'T know about them. Egyptian art was rich with symbolism. Sorry kiddo but most of your points can be supported and denied on both sides of this petty argument. Why is is that white and black extremist groups love to "claim" this culture as their own. Let's just stick with things that actually matter, like who was Tutankhamen's father? Did Ramses the second actually win the Battle of Kadesh or was it a political ruse? Etc.

So what?

I see the proud descendents of Egyptians every day.

Drinking malt liquor and hanging out in street .

And bumming cigarettes.

And asking for change.
